Editorial Policy
This policy sets out how the SGfi editorial team produces, reviews, and maintains the figures, comparisons, and explanations across the site. It is a standing standard, not a one-off statement — every calculator, card page, and article is held to it.
How we produce and review content
Content on SGfi falls into two layers: the structured data that drives the calculators — earn rates, caps, fees, contribution rates, award-chart figures — and the written explanations that sit alongside it. Both are produced and reviewed by the SGfi editorial team against primary sources before they are published.
Each data point is entered from an official source, recorded with the date it was verified, and checked a second time before it goes live. Written copy is reviewed for factual accuracy and for plain, neutral language: SGfi explains and compares, it does not recommend. The full sourcing and verification mechanics are documented on our methodology page.
Sourcing standards
Every figure traces back to the organisation that publishes it. We do not rebroadcast third-party aggregators. Our authority sources are:
- Issuer official terms — bank product pages and the governing terms-and-conditions document for each card. Every card review links its issuer's governing T&C at the point where its rates are shown.
- CPF Board (cpf.gov.sg) — contribution rates, allocation ratios, and CPF LIFE parameters.
- IRAS (iras.gov.sg) — tax-relief rules and thresholds that bear on contribution and savings figures.
- Monetary Authority of Singapore (mas.gov.sg) — benchmark rates such as SORA and the regulatory framework we operate within.
- Singapore Airlines — the published KrisFlyer award chart and transfer-partner terms behind the miles tools.
A “Rates as of [date]” stamp appears on every results page so the currency of each figure is visible at the point of use.
Independence and affiliate disclosure
SGfi is independently owned and operated. We are not part of, owned by, or controlled by any bank, financial institution, the CPF Board, or the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Some links on the site are affiliate links, marked with “Affiliate” text shown directly beneath or beside the button they apply to. Affiliate relationships never influence how products are ranked or compared. Rankings are deterministic and affiliate-blind: the same inputs always produce the same order, regardless of which products carry a partnership and which do not. This separation between commercial relationships and ranking logic is a fixed rule, not a preference.
Corrections, fact-checking, and updates
Figures are re-verified against their issuer source on a quarterly minimum schedule, and monthly for promotional rates, which change more often. When a stored figure diverges from the issuer's current published figure, SGfi shows “Verifying current rates” in place of the stale number until it is re-confirmed against the source — a stale figure is never left standing as if it were current.
Spotted a figure that looks wrong? Email [email protected]. We acknowledge every report within 48 hours, then review and take down or correct the affected figure as soon as possible, logging the change in the card or calculator's revision history.
