Frequently Asked Questions
Which Singapore credit card earns the most KrisFlyer miles?
It depends on spending patterns. For uncapped everyday spending, the UOB PRVI Miles leads at 1.4 mpd local and 2.4 mpd overseas. For online shopping, the Citi Rewards and DBS Woman's World earn 4 mpd (capped at S$1,000/month). For dining, the UOB KrisFlyer earns 2.4 mpd uncapped. The SGfi Miles Calculator ranks all 17 Singapore miles cards dynamically based on actual monthly spending by category.
How many KrisFlyer miles do I need for a flight from Singapore?
Under the KrisFlyer Saver Award Chart, one-way Economy flights from Singapore require roughly: 8,000 miles to Kuala Lumpur or Bali, 13,000 miles to Bangkok, 25,500 miles to Tokyo or Seoul, 29,000 miles to Sydney, and 44,000 miles to London. Business Class costs roughly double the Economy miles (for example, 54,500 miles one-way to Tokyo). The SGfi destination map shows 48 destinations with required miles by cabin class, highlighted by reachability based on projected earning.
How do I convert bank reward points to KrisFlyer miles?
Each Singapore bank converts reward points to KrisFlyer miles at a different ratio. DBS Points, Citi ThankYou Points, UOB UNI$, OCBC TravelS$, HSBC Reward Points, and SC 360° Rewards each have published conversion rates. Some banks charge a transfer fee while others (like OCBC 90°N) do not. Use the SGfi points converter to calculate your exact KrisFlyer miles from any bank balance.
What is miles per dollar (mpd) and why does it matter?
Miles per dollar (mpd) measures how many airline miles a credit card earns per S$1 spent. A 2.4 mpd card earns 2.4 KrisFlyer miles per dollar, while a 0.4 mpd card earns six times fewer miles for the same spend. However, high-mpd rates are often capped at S$1,000/month. A card earning 4 mpd capped at S$1,000 yields 4,000 miles/month, while a 1.4 mpd uncapped card on S$3,000 spend yields 4,200 miles. Total projected annual miles depends on both rate and spending volume.
Do KrisFlyer miles expire?
KrisFlyer miles expire 36 months after being credited to your airline account. However, before you transfer them, bank reward points have different policies depending on the specific credit card. For example, Citi PremierMiles and DBS Altitude miles never expire. Conversely, points earned on the DBS Woman's World Card expire after just 1 year, UOB UNI$ expire after 2 years, and Citi Rewards points expire after 5 years Miles can be kept indefinitely as bank points and transferred to KrisFlyer only when needed for a redemption.
Can I earn miles on everyday spending like groceries and transport?
Yes. The SC Journey earns 3 mpd on transport (Grab, Gojek) and food delivery. The HSBC Revolution earns 4 mpd on contactless tap-to-pay at supermarkets and online groceries. The UOB KrisFlyer earns 2.4 mpd on transport and dining. Even cards without category bonuses earn a base rate of 0.4 to 1.4 mpd on all spending including groceries and bills.
Which 3-card combination earns the most miles in Singapore?
An optimal miles strategy uses 3 cards: one uncapped base card for general spending (such as UOB PRVI Miles at 1.4 mpd), plus two specialist cards for bonus categories (such as HSBC Revolution at 4 mpd for online and Citi Rewards at 4 mpd for shopping). The SGfi comparison tool calculates the mathematically optimal trifecta based on individual spending, routing each category to the highest-earning card.
Where can I fly with 50,000 KrisFlyer miles?
With 50,000 KrisFlyer miles you have room for, say, a return Economy trip to most Southeast Asian cities (about 16,000–26,000 miles return), Hong Kong or Taipei (about 31,000 miles return), or a one-way Economy seat to Tokyo or Seoul (25,500 miles each) with plenty to spare. One-way Business Class is within reach to Kuala Lumpur or Bali (22,000 miles) and Bangkok (25,000 miles). The SGfi destination map shows all 48 reachable destinations based on any projected miles balance.
