Frequently asked questions
Does MSIG MaidPlus meet MOM’s requirements?
MSIG states that MSIG MaidPlus meets the Ministry of Manpower’s requirements: medical insurance of at least S$60,000 per year, personal accident cover of at least S$60,000, and the S$5,000 security bond.
What does MSIG MaidPlus cover?
Across the plans compared here (Standard Plan, Classic Plan, Premier Plan), MSIG MaidPlus provides annual hospital and surgical cover of S$60,000 to S$120,000 and personal accident cover of S$60,000. It also covers wage and levy reimbursement while the helper is hospitalised, repatriation, and the S$5,000 security bond.
How does the co-payment work on MSIG MaidPlus?
MOM sets the standard structure at no co-payment on the first S$15,000 of claims and a 25% employer co-payment above that, up to the annual limit. Across all plans: First S$15,000 of eligible claims: no co-payment. Above S$15,000 up to the annual limit: 25% co-payment (buy-down riders reduce this to 10% or 0%).
Is the security bond included in MSIG MaidPlus?
Yes. The S$5,000 MOM security bond is included as a Letter of Guarantee, so requiring it adds no premium. An optional counter-indemnity waiver (S$54.50) limits what MSIG can recover from you to a S$250 excess if the bond is called.
How much does MSIG MaidPlus cost?
MSIG publishes premiums for MSIG MaidPlus. On a 26-month term for a helper aged 50 and below, the published premiums are Standard Plan S$409.73, Classic Plan S$450.93 and Premier Plan S$509.68. All figures include GST. Enter your duration, co-payment, medical limit and helper age band in the comparison to see the price for your configuration.
Are these figures guaranteed?
No. Insurers update premiums, coverage limits and promotions over time. The coverage limits shown were verified against MSIG’s official pages on 22 July 2026. Always confirm the current price and terms before applying.
What MOM requires
Every employer of a migrant domestic worker in Singapore is required to hold the following. Each policy compared here is stated by its insurer to meet these minimums.
Covers the helper’s inpatient care and day surgery. The minimum was raised from S$15,000 to S$60,000 on 1 July 2023 (Stage 1 of the enhanced MI requirements). MOM
Claims of S$15,000 or less in a year are fully covered. For the amount above S$15,000 up to the S$60,000 limit, the insurer pays 75% and the employer co-pays 25%. MOM
A minimum sum assured of S$60,000, paid as a lump sum for permanent disability or death from a sudden, unforeseen accident. Separate from medical insurance. MOM
A binding pledge to the government, provided as a banker’s or insurer’s guarantee, required for every MDW except Malaysian helpers. It can be forfeited if Work Permit or bond conditions are breached. MOM
Since 1 July 2025 (Stage 2 of the enhanced MI requirements), insurers price premiums in two age bands — helpers aged 50 and below, and helpers above 50. Premiums for older helpers are generally higher.

Price is each insurer’s premium for the cheapest plan meeting your co-payment and medical-limit choice at the term and helper age you entered, plus any optional rider or waiver cost you add where the insurer publishes a price. Every listed premium already includes the S$5,000 MOM security bond, so requiring the bond adds no cost by itself. Premiums appear as each insurer publishes them, some as a gross list price and some already after a discount, and a discount already in the price is not subtracted again.
Not modelled: individual underwriting and loadings, the helper’s nationality or date of birth, out-of-pocket amounts at claim time (the 25% co-payment above S$15,000), and any GST an insurer does not state. A 14-month term or a helper aged 51 to 60 is quoted separately and not estimated, so an insurer without a published figure for that configuration is not ranked. These figures are an estimate, not a promise of the premium an insurer will quote.
